INDEPENDENCE DAY 2025

How's the Josh? - A popular dialogue that resonated with Indians all over when it first hit the movie screens in 2019.

6 years later, the same josh was akin to all its national glory as the students and educators, commemorated the 79th Independence Day of India on August 15th, 2025

Naib Subedar Devdas Mendon, a decorated officer who recently retired following Operation Sindhoor, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, along with Rev Fr Manohar, Superior of Trinity Vihar who was the President of the event. The esteemed dignitaries, along with the Principal Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo, Vice Principal and Administrator Fr Amar Lobo, Academic Co-ordinator Ms Magdelena Lewis, Primary Section Head Dr Poornima Devadiga, Pre-Primary Section Head Ms Renita Monteiro, PTA President Ms Priya Furtado, were welcomed by the SPL Master Ryan Dsouza, and ASPL Ms Ifra Taj; who then led the contingent to the main stage, to the thunderous beats of the school band in astute synchronisation.

The event spearheaded by Master Gowrav of Grade 10, and Ms Prithvi of Grade 9, conducted the event with a patriotic finesse. Following the prayer, the rites of flag hoisting, rendition of the National Anthem, National Song and Flag song took place in succession with patriotic fervour.

The Guard of Honour parade, held in a similar decorum, as with, at the iconic Red Fort every year on this solemn occasion followed on, with the SPL and ASPL leading the marching troops of Scouts, Guides, and the students of Grades 7-10.

Ms Sarah Sajid, welcomed the gathering and Ms Maanvi introduced the credentials of the Chief Guest, who was then felicitated by all the dignitaries on the dais. In his message, to the august gathering Mr Devdas Mendon stressed on the importance of being true patriots and working in unity and harmony, not just for oneself but for every netizen of our beloved country.

Fr Manohar in his Presidential address reiterated the importance of being disciplined in our approach to patriotism, and that patriotism is not meant for just one day it must bring a sense of self-worth when we think and do good for our nation.

The cultural programme, in all its glitz started off with a banger performance by the Kindergarten students. Dressed as prominent freedom fighters, the little ones bravely graced the stage along with their peers who soulfully rendered a patriotic song.

Alternate sequences of dance and song performances by the students of various classes enhanced the event. Ms Prapti of Grade 4 presented an impressive beautiful and heart-touching poetic verse, Sipahi . Ms Sheza of Grade 8 recreated the iconic moment, of Jawaharlal Nehru s eponymous speech when India awoke to freedom with her confident declamation of Nehru s iconic words. Ms Dhanvitha of Grade 9, thoughtfully expressed the emotions of young India in her Kannada speech. Disciplined agility was at the forefront, with an exhilarating Taleem performance by the students.

Amidst the celebrations, it was befitting on this solemn occasion to honour the awardees of the Rajya Puraskara, under the aegis of the Bharat Scout and Guide Movement. The following students were honoured Master Bharath, Master Mohammed Aftab, Master Sahil, Master Abhinav Salian and Master Viswas Naik. The awardees were honoured with a shawl and trophy.

The Principal, Rev Fr Dominic Sunil Lobo in his speech asked students to be tolerant and respectful of one another, irrespective of caste, creed or religion, highlighting on the importance of being united as one, Trinity family,

The celebrations continued with after which Master Sheldon of Grade 9 rendered the vote of thanks, bringing the curtains down on the 79th Independence Day celebrations.
