Students Visit Manipal Police Station to Learn About Law Enforcement
Students of Grades 9 and 10 from Trinity
Central School visited the Manipal Police Station to
gain first-hand knowledge about police operations, their
responsibilities, and the tools they use to maintain law
and order.
During the visit, the students were introduced to the
concept of the First Information Report (FIR), a crucial
document that marks the beginning of an investigation
into a cognizable offense. Officers explained the
importance of transparency in the process, with a copy
of the FIR provided to the complainant.
The students also toured the lock-up area, where
suspects are held temporarily before appearing in court.
Police personnel outlined the judicial process,
explaining how evidence is presented in court, and the
decisions regarding bail or custody are made based on
the nature of the offense.
In addition to learning about procedures, the students
were shown various police equipments. This included
weapons such as firearms and batons for self-defense,
communication devices like walkie-talkies for quick
emergency response, and forensic kits for collecting
evidence such as fingerprints and blood samples.
The visit provided an invaluable opportunity for
students to better understand the police’s critical role
in society. It also emphasized the importance of legal
processes and the tools required for maintaining public
safety and justice.
